Making a sword that swings faster is the same as gaining more stats - it breaks the even battlefield.

I have an idea for an mmorpg-fps, but i have been stumped. I have no idea on how it would work. For instance, Combat Arms(fps), you join a room of about 16 players and have a nearly 15 minute battle; Again, for instance, RuneScape(mmorpg), you gain exp for a skill, make money(gp), quests, interact with players in multiple ways, and much much more. But how would the two(fps and mmorpg) work simultaneously together? Could you explain a possibility or multiple possibilties of this working? Thanks for your time.

I know, the term "massive joke" is a bit harsh and a bit of hyperbole. I don't even disdain PVP so much. I just find non-twitch player-on-player combat somewhat boring. But it's all personal preference, I think I was in a bit of a "mood" when I wrote that.

I have played Guild Wars and have a Prophecies account kicking around somewhere. I enjoyed it, but I didn't really get into it - I'm not sure why. I really liked the strategy of putting together your action bar and I do think it made for a better pvp experience. I'm also holding out hope for PVP in Darkfall and Mortal Online, but we'll see.

I'm probably just jaded on PVP in MMOs because of my WoW and WAR experiences. And WoW is precisely why I have such a negative opinion of raiding. I mean, raiding is OK in a sense and it's a viable past time even for myself, but being so invested in WoW for the few years I played it killed raiding for me. (I'm not a WoW hater, just really burned out on it.)

Not only do I think an FPS MMORRPG will work, I think it will be Blizzard's next MMO.

Now about the statement:

"I hate raiding and I am sorry if it offends anyone but PVP is a massive joke. I hate to be the one to say it, but if you want to PVP, play Counter Strike."

I hate raiding as well. It would work a hell of a lot better if there were less people required to do it.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on the 'PvP is a massive joke' thing... Although CS is a good game, all the skill a player needs to play it is iron tight reflexes and good internet connection. PvP in RPGs is an entirely different ball game. You can't even begin to compare the two. I'm not going to go into detail, but if you've never had a good RPG PvP experience then I suggest you try Guild Wars.
